Mission

The Cecilia Rawlins Fund exists to support students in need and families in crisis at Wiley International Magnet Elementary School in Raleigh, North Carolina

The Cecilia Rawlins Fund (CRF) was established to honor esteemed principal Cecilia Rawlins, who retired in 2007 after 15 years at the helm of Wiley International Magnet Elementary School in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Ms. Rawlins selflessly provided assistance to families in need throughout her career and believed in nurturing the whole child. This fund is to ensure her commitment to our children and families continues at Wiley.

FIGHTING HUNGER

CRF provides funding for the Backpack Buddies program - in partnership with Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and St. Michael's Episcopal Church - so that during the school year, weekly backpacks filled with balanced meals are sent home to students and their families who are at risk of hunger every Friday

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

CRF provides limited financial assistance to Wiley Elementary School families experiencing crisis, like one-time rental assistance, utility bill payment, gas cards, summer meals, and assistance moving from homelessness to permanent housing

One student asked each morning “Is my backpack heavy?” On food distribution days, when we answered “Yes!” his face would light up and he would do a little dance while singing, “My backpack is heavy! My backpack is heavy!”
